Beno, born in Coalhurst, Alberta on November 13, 1927. Beno was raised by his parents, Franchesco and Onerina Bertamini in Drumheller Alberta. Beno had three brothers, Gino born in 1920, Alf born in 1924, and Art born in 1931. Regretfully, Alf and Art have passed away. Gino lives in Calgary with his wife Babe.
Beno tells us he finished his schooling in Drumheller. Although there was no physical proof of his graduation, he landed his first job as an assistant agent for the CPR in 1944.
In 1947 Beno was promoted to Operator/Agent in Drumheller. He worked on the spareboard for one year until he transferred (or was a problem child and was sent packing by the railroad) to Burmis, Alberta where he worked for the CPR until 1951.
Beno then bid for Camrose and transferred there in 1951 where he met Irene. Beno and Irene were married in 1952 and they relocated to Lethbridge.
In 1953 Beno and Irene relocated with the CPR to Hobbema where they stayed until 1963. During this period they became the semi-proud parents of three children, Don, Allan and Teresa.
In 1964 Beno, Irene and the family relocated to Milk River, Alberta. They stayed for one year returning to Hobbema where they partnered in a Grocery Store with Jack Kramer.
It was during this period that Gary was hatched. The Grocery Store, "Kramer and Bertamini" was operated until 1973 when Jack bought out Beno & Irene.
The family then moved to Calgary for a short period of time. Beno decided to enter the Hotel business and became the Manager of a newly built hotel in Fort St. John, B.C., the Alexander McKenzie Inn.
In 1975 Beno and Irene relocated to Penticton, B.C. where Beno was Manager of the El Rancho Motor Inn.
In 1976 Beno and Irene relocated to Kamloops where Beno was Manager of the David Thompson Motor Inn.
In 1978 Beno bought in to a company called CR Hospitality Management Services and performed various duties in the Hotel Industry.
In 1981 Beno became the Manager of the Best Western Westwood Inn in Edmonton. He ran the Hotel until 1991 when he retired. Beno has done consulting work in the Hotel industry after his retirement and continues to work today providing no end of entertainment for Irene.
